It's A Mystery..

Passion. Romance. Love. We long for it, we crave it, we desire it; no one is exempt.  It’s part of our very being.  At some point, we all look to find that in an imperfect human being.  As we grow up, many fall in love and are blessed with the gift of marriage.  A marriage, as it should be is to be fun and exciting, a friendship ornamented with romance.  We want that passionate affair.  We love being wooed, romanced, fancied, and so on.  It’s something we can’t deny or get away from.  It’s a pursuit, this life.  You see, God created us, men and women, to have a yearning for these things. He created us to yearn for a relationship, yearn for someone to love and love us for who we are.  Some spend their lives longing, searching, and waiting for someone who can satisfy that need.  It’s in our blood, our heart’s desire.  The fact of the matter is, God wants us to have this desire, but for HIM!  We were created for a relationship with Him.  Many would say that he or she understands this, but do you really?
God doesn’t need us, but thankfully He wants us.  He loves us, so He pursues us.  He is so passionate about us, so He has given us the chance of the romance of a lifetime, far greater than any other.  Sometimes I feel people tend to look at the Christian walk as a life of rules, regulations, or just something one has to do to get to heaven.  Christians, is that the way you see it or do you see it for what it truly is; a divine romance, the perfect love affair, a life of complete satisfaction and joy?  Is your relationship with God exciting, enough, or worth it?  Or do we so many times look for this astounding, perfect love in someone else, possibly without even realizing it?
Let me draw your attention to a man, a man like none other, from my personal point of view.  This man thought I was worth everything.  I didn’t even know him then, but he sure knew me.  I didn’t deserve to know him, but he knew exactly what I needed and what it would cost him to fulfill my need.  He chose to bear death on a cross for ME!?  You see, the cross is not just a gruesome death story; it’s so much more.  It encases much more meaning to me now than it ever has.  It was a proposal from Jesus to me.  It was God’s way of showing His unconditional, agape love toward me, His beckoning call for me, a perfectly clear display of 1 Corinthians 13.  It was the undeniable, passionate love of one man stretched out between three nails.  It was the ultimate proposal, the ultimate sacrifice so that I could have that perfect romance my heart longs for.  Those were my lashes, my nails, my thorns, my very death on that cross, but instead Jesus took what I deserved and dressed me in a white gown of forgiveness.  He died because HE LOVES ME! “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13.  I think I tend to forget how extravagant His love for me is.  Talk about passion and love; it can’t get any better.
This story of the cross brings me back to my point.  I feel like many of us, as Christians, are missing out.  We get so caught up in our own lives and tangible relationships, or even just the theological aspect of Christianity (which isn’t bad and definitely needed) that we forget the relational aspect, the romance, the enjoyment.  God, so much wants us to enjoy Him and be totally, completely, madly in love with Him.  He woos us constantly!  Just look up, look down, and look all around you.  His creation is so exorbitant and beautiful that it can’t help but be a display of affection towards us.  Being in His holy presence surpasses any date I’ve ever been on, the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen, the sweetest engagement proposal ever, and so on. Just remembering what He did for me back on Calvary never fails to capture my heart, more so than any other man will ever have the ability to.  His love continually takes my breath away.  He makes me weak at the knees to the point where sometimes all I can do is kneel before Him in awe.  He gives me the chills and sometimes brings me to a loss for words.
The point I’m trying to get across to you is the King has already made His proposal; the question is what will you do with it. Obviously there are only two responses to that question – yes or no.  I hope and pray you have said yes, so now are you going to enjoy the engagement to the fullest or get just enough?  Me, I WANT IT ALL!  God gave me His all, so now I want as much of Him as I can get.  See ladies and gents, I get it now, I’m already engaged, a future bride, waiting for my bridegroom, my perfect wedding in heaven one day.  Don’t get me wrong, Lord willing, I hope to get married to an earthly bridegroom one day and have a marriage that will reflect Christ and His bride, but if that day never comes, my cup will continue to overflow with satisfaction. Because I have a King who calls me His lover, His beloved.  Death will never separate us, because He already died for me.  In times that are good and times that are bad, He never changes and carries me through it all.  He calls me immaculate – flawless, guiltless, exquisite, perfect.  There are no words to accurately describe this romance, this love affair, this passion.

I look forward, in hope, to my earthly prince, but the King has already marked me – TAKEN.

“Love of my life, look deep in my eyes, there you will find what you need.
Give me your life, lust and the lies, the past you're afraid I might see.
You've been running away from me.

You're my beloved, Lover I'm yours. Death shall not part us. It's you I died for.
For better or worse, forever we'll be. Our Love it unites us, it binds you to me.
It's a mystery.

Love of my life, look deep in my eyes, there you will find what you need.
I'm the giver of life; I'll clothe you in white. My immaculate bride you will be.
Oh come running home to me, now.

Well you've been a mistress, my wife, chasing lovers it won't satisfy.
Won't you let me make you my bride? You will drink of my lips and taste new life.

You're my beloved, Lover I'm yours. Death shall not part us. It's you I died for.
For better or worse, forever we'll be. Our Love it unites us, it binds you to me.
